2009 Sue Beischer tournament Schedule

The 2009 Sue Beischer Tournament is scheduled for July 25 and 26 and will be played at Hyacinth Park with some games at Strawberry Vale.

TOURNAMENT INFORMATION AND REGULATIONS
  • Regulations
    • Coin toss will determine home team for all games.
    • No infield warm up between innings is permitted, except for the pitcher.
    • Umpires and scorekeepers are to synchronize game start times. Please ensure game start time is written at the top of your scoresheets.
    • Game length is 5 innings or 1 hour and 15 minutes, whichever comes first.
    • Any inning started must be finished.
    • No inning shall start with ten (10) minutes or less remaining in the game. Click here to see what to do when time has run out.
    • The final game on Sunday will be a regular seven (7)-inning game.
    • Five (5)-run-per-inning rule is in effect for all games, including the finals, with the last inning being open.
    • As per Article 7(b), teams may pick up players providing all regular team members are fielded at all times.
    • Pick-up players must be insured by Softball BC, shall not pitch, and shall not play out of Hyacinth.
    • Points for Round Robin will be awarded as follows: two (2) points for a win; One (1) point for a tie; Hugs for a loss.
    • If a tie exists after the Round Robin, head-to-head runs scored for and against the teams in question will be counted. In the event that a tie still exists, a coin will be tossed for placing. Games can only end in a tie during the Round Robin. International rules will be adopted for semi- finals and the championship game.

    Information

    • Each team will need a total of two (2) game balls for the Tournament.
    • The beer garden and fifty-fifty draws are both operated by the members of the league. To facilitate the distribution of the shared responsibilities, the Tournament Director has scheduled teams between games throughout the weekend. Please be sure to relieve the team preceding yours promptly as they will be in a hurry to warm up for their next game.
    • Participative, fun-games will be held at 12:00 on Saturday.
    • Semi-final games are scheduled for 1:00 on Sunday.
    • The League Annual Award Ceremony will be held immediately after the Championship game at approximately 5:00 pm. All members of the VWFL are strongly encouraged to participate.
